Supporting Kids in Emotional Empowerment

boyinorangeshirt

So often when kids are working to recognize and regulate their own emotions, adults step in to tell or even dictate what kids need to do. Our Scholabox team chose to share resources for teachers and families to facilitate discussions, writing, reading, inquiry experiences for kids all around Emotional Intelligence.

During this really tricky time for our country (and world, for that matter), we want to make our instructional guide and family guide available for free. You’re able to order the books on your own that we suggest and then pick and choose what works best for you and your family or students.

As adults, we can guide kids through understanding that just as they work to be smart and grow their intellect, they can learn to be wise about their emotions and grow their ability to self-regulate.

One book we include (and that you can order here) is The Many Colors of Harpreet Singh by Supriya Kelkar. Here are some ideas we provide in the guide:

And some options for pairing an article, media and poetry with the picture book:

We hope these resources, along with the adjustments and tweaks you make to customize for your kids, will be helpful. We’d love to hear from you about how you and the kids you love learn to be emotionally smart!
